About ATRAS

ATRAS is a free, independent, non-commercial project that helps people new to Metro Vancouver see which areas are realistic for their budget. It is not affiliated with CMHC, Statistics Canada, or any rental listing site. Area overview texts are AI-generated summaries — they are labelled as such and, like any summary, may contain errors. Use ATRAS as a way to orient yourself, then verify anything important through listings and visits.

Rent estimates are estimates

The rents shown on ATRAS are estimates derived from CMHC Rental Market Survey statistics, adjusted to approximate current asking rents (tap the ⓘ next to any figure for how it's calculated). They describe an area's typical level, not any specific home.

They are not listing prices, quotes, or valuations — actual asking rents vary from building to building, and can be well outside the estimate. Treat every figure here as a starting point for your search, not as a number you can rent at. The estimates are provided as is, and we make no guarantee of their accuracy or completeness. In plain words: ATRAS can point you at the right areas, but it can't promise what any landlord will charge.

Reviews and area photos

Resident reviews are collected directly from people who have lived in each area and published anonymously with their explicit permission. They are personal opinions and experiences, not verified facts and not the views of ATRAS. We may edit or decline to publish a review as described in the consent form (for example, removing details that could identify someone), and contributors can withdraw their review at any time — it is removed with the next site update.

Area photos come from freely licensed sources. Each photo carries its own credit; tap a photo to see the photographer, licence, and source. If you believe a review or photo infringes your rights or is materially wrong, email us and we will review it — and remove it if warranted.

External sites

ATRAS links to rental listing sites (such as Craigslist and Zumper) and other external pages. These sites are not ours: their content, listings, and terms are their own responsibility, and anything you do there — contacting a landlord, paying a deposit — is between you and them. Read their terms, and be careful with rental scams: never send money before you've seen a place and verified who you're dealing with.

We may update these terms from time to time; when we do, we refresh the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use ATRAS after a change means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada.
